WHEN THE TEAM QOE8. In vlow of tho fnct that today's Issuo Is tho last rogular issuo boforo tho St. Louis game It Is nocossary to urge tho matter of a football rally at this tlmo, If at all. During tho season fast approaching an end, thero havo boon comparatively fow demon strations of this naturo so It Is up to tho studonts to meet this emer gency with tho same spirit that has characterized tho subject of these re marks during tho entire season. Ne braska's football team has nover shown any indication of tho quitting spirit and this faqt nlono should be sufficient to obllgo tho student body to Iceop up Uio pace sot by thom. Tho soason has been one of the very bes in tho history of football at this Uni versity and If tho game Thanksgiving day can bo placod in tho list of our victories this fact will 'bo unquestlon- RESULTS TELL! Wo must win tho St. Louis gamo but to accomplish this end every ono should lend a shoulder to the wheel and help tho cause along. If any student has been unable to at tend the rallys In tho past, ho should make every effort to be at tho train Tuesday to cheer tho team on to vic tory, and victory over- perhaps the! strongest foe on our schedule. Many students havo not developed any great interest in this gamo because it is not played at homo and for a further rou son that but little is Jtnown locally concerning St. Louis University. For these reasons many do not realize that Thanksgiving Day's gamo is to be without anyp question one of the toughest propositions Nebraska has. had to consider. Tho student body . shouldt dotormina. that no matter what tho outcome may bo their conduct will have been such as to leave noth ing for vain regret. The boys who go down to St. 'Louis, TueBday should be shown that they do not go into tho contest alono but that they -havo some three thousand oarnosb support . ers who though compelled to stay at homo will yet bo with them in the struggle. This occasion should bo mado mem orable in tho history of football ral lies, because of tho circumstances. Nebraska has this year a team that is popular -with tho studonts and has been successful to a romdrkablo ox- tont about to meet one or tno strong est fcyuns in tho middlo west. Certain ly tho situation is ono that should in Bplro enthusiasm and bring ovory stu dent down to tho train to glvo the team a fitting God speed. ... COUNTY FAIR. Interesting News About the Annual Rural Event. It is generally reported that tho County Fair to bo given December 7 Ib to be quite tho best of tho Boason. Several novel foatures aro to bo in troduced (as usual, but those are to bo more than usual), for example, Undo Tom and Little Eva will be there, which is somothing never, be fore attempted. An elaborate cast haB been proparod for the soul-thrilling spectacle of Undo Tom on the PIko. All of tho characters of that justly world-famed melodrama havo been cast with the exception of two cakes of ice and a bloodhound. Thero aro to bo two Topsys, three "Markses,' four Uncle Toms, besides a blood-thirsty Logreo with long drooping muBtashoes, and a little Eva with wings. Then, too, the whole family from Strawberry Point will bo among-thoso present, Uncle Josh, I think, and I'm sure Aunt Samanthy, and some of the children. It'll bo the time of their lives, for the attractions are super fine this year. Among others Js to be the gay little city of Tokio, with lots of pretty girls and all of the smells except tho best and sweetest of. incense. Oh, it'll bo great. Will be glad to see your smiling face. Dr. Bessey has recently received n letter from Dr. John L. Sheldon, '99, in which he states that ho has been mado a full professor of botany i at the University of West Virginia. Dr. Sheldon took his doctor's degree from this University in 1903 and was elect ed shortly ' after plant pathologist at tho West Virginia experiment station. It is very simple, working on essentially tho same principle as the regular photometer. A piece of solio paper is arranged so that it can bo exposed to the light whon under water. In this way, when tho length of ex posure is known the intensity of the light can be told: Dr. Bessey will havo an article in tho next issue of tho University Studies on the classification of plants. .Being so husily engaged in Its prepar ation ,he postponed tho usual Thurs day evening session of tho Botany seminar.
