Jn 1901. Kolherplayed tackle on the
Chicago eleven during the season of
1902. The roturn &t Kolher to Ne
braska, accompanied, by his pupils
should attrapt a large turnout of Ne
hraskans and supporters of tho Corn-buskers.
Tho 'varsity was out for. practice
again last evening going through with
the general routine of work in prepara
tion for tho Denveritos.
Discussing tho game at Lawrence
Cole said:
"We looked for u hard game and
got JUBt what wo expected. We wore
royally treated by tho Kansas author
ities and both elevens plriyod clean
football, bolng an ideal contest in that
respect, juid It should meamuch as
to the futuro relations of the two In
stitutions. I am qui'c content to
havo won, although I believe tho Corn
huskers could .have run up a larger
score but for the fact that the team
sllppod a fow cogs at' critical moments.
These things uro more apt to hnppon
than ever, In view of tho fact that
the now game 1b only In the early
stages of Its development. The few
critics, and there aro somo of them
at Nebraska, who have been claiming
that tho Cornhuskers wero clinging to
the old stylo of llno-smnshing gnmo
would have had their eyes opened had
they seen the Nebrnska eleven in
action at Lawrence. Wo worked tho
forward pass frequently for long gains,
only one of tho forward flips hlttlngj
tho ground and costing a penalty. Tho
short kick also was ono of our best
ground gainers. Kansas seldom was
able to break up any of those plays.
Our defenso on tho Jayhawkers' for
ward passeB was splendidly executed
and not once were they able to ad
vance on that play.
Tho weekly Y. Tk O, A. meeting
