He loved youngmen who woro doveloped on ovory side men who were strong morally, montally, and physically. Ho touchod upon tho Im portance of athletics to obtain a brpad nnd complete development. Judgo Loomls urged all to culti vate 'tho power to concentrato on a givon task. Nothing could be accom plished without hard work. We can not afford to fall In anything, for every time wo fall it leaves its Jm presslon upon us. Wo may bo driven to the wall by forces beyond our con trol, but wo need never bo. led to tho wall. Ho urged the value and Importance of large heartedness, and declared that this 1b what makes true great ness. Speaking moro directly to tho stu dents, be urged them to lot their political actions be governed by their convictions rather than by expedi ency. Try and determino tho ques tions which iie at tho bottom of our life, for the best interests of nil tho people. Love of country should bo placed abovo our lovo of party. Wo should study the principles underly ing our past life, for principles al ways have been and always will bo the same. A Communication. Wahoo, Nebr., Oct. 30, 1907. To Whom It May Concern: I presided at tho trial of the Owen Johnson case nnd cheerfully state that In my judgment any reflections cast upon John L. Sundean aro unfoundod In fact and are wholly unwarranted. I think it but fair to state that in my opinion tho aspersions cast upon him are false. The case was taken from the jury on a question of law and Mr. Sundean's side of the case was not placed before the jury. Upon a re-trial of tho same case Mr. Sun dean's evidence was admitted and ho was fully exonerated. Very respect fully, B. F; GODD, Judge. Nebraska Songs. Learn these songs for tho Ames Nebraska game Saturday: SCAR1LET AND CREAM. Tune: "Orange and "Black." Although Yale has always favored The violets dark bluo, And the gentle sons of Harvard To the crimson rose are true; : Still our colors aro the sunset, And silvery moon's last beam, So we sing to old Nobraska And the Scarlet and tho Cream : Through the four long years of college, Midst the scenes we love so well, As the mystic charms of knowledgo We vainly seek to spell; J: Or we win.athlelic victories With our gallant football team. And we work for old Nebraska And the 'Scarlet and tho Cream : When the cares of life o'ertako us, Mingling fast our locks with gray; Should our dearest hopes betray us, False fortunes fall away; ': Still we banish care 'and sadness As of college days we dream, And recall those days of gladness 'Neath the Scarlet and the Cream": I "Ne-bras-ka.". Air: "Mornln' Cy." It was Nebraska, Nebraska, . Every rooter in tho crowd would say, 'Hlt that line , Every time; Jimmney Crickets, hut they're doing line, Nebraska, Nebraska." Everybody gives the Hoo Rah Rah, Help those boys make a noise, For no one else is In it but Nebraska hoys. Y. W. C. A. Notes.
