FORE8T "RANGER8" RETURN.
Students Return From Dismal River
Forest Reserve.
The party of Forostry boys who
havo been doing government work on
the Dismal River Forest Reserve In
Thomas county returned to school yes
terday, after an absence of six wooks.
The men are: G. N. Lamb, W. W. Kad
Ing, J. Hlggins and F. J. PIpal. This
course of actual forest exporlonco Is
open to all forestry students who de
sire to avail themselves of the oppor
tunity. University credit Is given for
the work, and a salary 1b paid the men
by the government.
The young "rangers" are quite well
sunburnt, and judging from the cal'
loiiBcd condition of tholr hands, they
have been quite buBy with pick and
shovel. Over 135,000 young pines
were set out on the resorve by the
entire working force, which conslstod
of Bomo forty men.
The men report tho Dismal River
Reserve flourishing. Trees were first
set out there by the government In
1892 and since then have been gradu
ally spreading over the sandhill re
gion. Tho reserve at present contains
several thousand acres.
Concerning Cream.
Here is a story heard the other day,
about a Pan of Milk and some Mole
cules: "Once upfcm a time there was a
bright new Pan full of lovely fresh
Milk. In this lovely fresh Milk were
a multitude of Fairy Sprites termed
Molecules. One night the Pan with
the lovely fresh Mlllc was put into a
deep cellar. Some cool Air came along
and woke up the Molecules who had
been asleep. 'What do you want with
us?' they criedqto the cool Air. 'Wake
up, lazy ones, and get to work. There
is much to do before Morning,' an
swered the cool Air. Thereupon the
molecules felt very much' ashamed
of their indolence; they suddenly be
stirred themselves and went busily to
work. They worked all night long,
and when In tho Morning Friday
Morning, for instance the House
Maid came to get tho bright new Pan
full of lovely fresh Milk, behold, a
wonderful Change had taken place.
The white Milk was gone and In Its
Place there was a" beautiful Coat of
yellow Cream that had risen to the
Top- And all because those Molecules
got busy."
Did you ever hear that' story? It's
true. Ask the Y. W. C. A. Furnishing
funders, if you don't believe It.
