The department of Electrical En gineering lias just received from England a new photometer, -which is very unique and modern In its con struction and operation. The photo meter is an Instrument for measuring Intensity of illumination, and the de partment expects to make several ex periments on opera house, street and other forms of lighting. Staff Change. Owing to the resignation of Paul G. Burt from the Nebraskan staff, S. P. Dobbs has stepped back Into the place ho occupied at the beginning of the year, the position of general news reporter. L. W. Chase, who has charge of the department of Farm Mechanics, gave an interesting talk on 'the "Princi ples of the Gas Engine" to the En gineering Society on Wednesday evening. His talk was' Illustrated by lantern slides, and, on the whole, was a most instructive and helpful dis cussion.
