AT Elliott Bros., TAILORS Both Phonet. 1210 O St BASE BALL GOODS b Range Target Placed In Military De partment. A now nnd rather complicated piece of mechanism has Just been rocelvert by the Military department, In the shapo of an automatic range target, this is to be used In the aiming and trigger-pulling exercises. It consists of a heavy and perfectly rigid cast Iron framowork upon which a rifle is fastened in such a manner that It may be sighted at a distant target. A small paper target Is also placed In a slide on the Instrument a little above and to the right of tlfo gun. When the trigger Is pulled a line steel needle, pierces the small target at the exact point at which the target aimed at should have been hit had the gun been loaded. This is a very practical piece of ap paratus for aiming and trigger-pulling exercises. It has the advantage of saving ammunition, eliminating the necessity of cleaning the guns, and at the same time recording accurately tho result of the aiming and trigger pulling. The cadets will Boon be given some" of the drill with the Instrument, .and It Is likely that it will bo taken to camp so that tho men may have these dally exorcises as well as the regular firing exercises.
