Junior Jollification.
The Junior party committee mot
Thursday morning and decided on the
features of the coming Jollification.
The party will be an afternoon pic
nic, and will come off Saturday, May
18. The location and the particular
details of the Junior festival are not
yet decided on, but the committee Is
enthusiastically pushing tho matter,
and promises that It will be the Jol
liest event of the year. The committee,
which holds its next meeting Tuesday
morning at 11 in U. 110. is composed
of tho following: Clarence G. Johnson,
chairman; Mary E. Brown, M. A. MillB,

Fruit Tree Spraying.
The botany and forestry students
have become somewhat interested in
a report recently published by tho
Nebraska Experiment Station in
which the statistical result of spray
ing Nebraska fruit trees is given. The
spraying was done to guard against
the destructive work of scab and cod
dling moth, and proved very success
ful At a cost of 25 cents per tree, 2,175
trees of different varieties were treat
ed in six different orchards of south
east Nebraska, and the gain In tho
amount of fruit produced over that of
an equal number of unsprayed trees
produced an average of 80 cents worth
of fruit per tree, while those properly
sprayed produced $1.80 worth of fruit.
The botany students are familiarizing
themselves with the methods of spray
ing and the best solutions used for tho
purpose.
