INDIFFERENCE?
In the shuffle down '.it the capltol
recently, the University's plea for an
athletic field went unheeded. At pres
ent, there Is no prospect of obtaining
a suitable Hold for athletics and they
are, ns a consequence, In danger. Yet
nobody about the campus seems to
have become, the least disturbed over
It. Whether this Is u sign of more
forgot fulness or of Indifference Is hard
to say. If a proof of the latter, It Is
Umo the attitude changed.
Nebraska has enjoyed for several
years a reputntlon as a school well up

we lose much of our Individuality and
a vital part or tho school life. Tho
athletics bo vlowed only as an acces
sory, as it has been insisted they
should bo, they nevertheless, give a
tone to the college environment do
cldodly healthful. They infuse a spe
cial sort of energy and spirit into
things; they round out tho university
experience to something complete.
More Interest In the fate of athletics
at Nobraska ought to bo manifested.
No Immediate way out of the diffi
culty coming with tho loss of the ath
letic field has yet appeared, but if
the students and alumni once became
thoroly concerned a way might bo
found. Anything but indifference!
