All those belonging to the Pershing
RIfllcs are most earnestly urged to be
present nt the drill to ho held tonight
at ,7:15 In the Armory. Tho purpose
of the drill is to prepare for Charter
Day whip"h comes next Friday. It had
always been the custom up to that day
last year to give a competitive drill
and spell-down on the afternoon just
before the Indoor athletic contest.
Last year because of the apathy and
carelessness of the men, it was Impos
sible to give it. Every effort is being
expended thlB year to prevent the

A rather ...unique specimen was re
ceived by the Geological department
today, a jaw of a baby mastodon with
the back teeth just appearing above the
surface of the jaw. Tho valuo of tho
specimen -was recognized by. Rev. J.
M. Bates of Red Cloud and through his
efforts It was secured for tho Univer
sity. , . ,
This interesting specimen was found
seven miles northwest tof Red Cloud on
Indian Creek , by Mr. Albert Knutsen
and was donated hy'hlm lo the Geolog
ical department of tho University.
