THE POLICY.
It is pretty hard to predict just what
kind of n paper will be turned out this
next somcBter. Certainly, there Is a
big enough Btaff to insure somo re
sults, the Board of Publication having
been very lenient and allowing no re
strictions to Btand in the way of plans
seeming to offer anything good, and
the brilliancy and braininess of tho
staff no one, of course, will think of
questioning. Unforsoon circumstances,
however, will happen sometimes.
Tho attempt will bo made to place
the paper in a position representative
of the wholo University, and to fOBtor
a real college spirit. Now that does

not mean an attempt to arouse a burn-
ing sort of fervency and enthusiasm on
the return of a victorious athletic
team, it moans that, but It means also
"more." A big university like that of
Nebraska has numerless departments
and phases, yot thoro is, or should be,
u point of view from which tlio wholo
cun bo seen, and this point we shall
attempt to locate ovor hero in tho
basement of the Adminstrntlon Build
ing. Presumptuous, Is It? Porhaps
It is.
It will bo miraculous, of course, if
something is not said Insldo of a week
at which somo parson or another will
be very much disgusted or which will
meet with violent disapproval. Not
thut a general campaign of knocking
is to be anticipated, for there are clear
t ly just as many things to be praised as
knocked at, but all people, it seems can
not agree. )
Several new features have been plan
ned, but tho nature of these will be
announced later. .
