Leave .your cramming for that exam
you're going to take on Saturday, take
your two dimes and three pennies and
come to your class party. But do not
think that your ticket is the only ex
pense, for dire and woeful penalties
and fines will befall that unlucky
Sophomore who neglects the comple
tion 6f his registration in the twenty
three subjects which the committee
demands of all who attend. A fine
of one cent ($.01) will be collected for
every one of these subjects in which
the guilty underman cannot display
the approving instructor's signature.
The program for the evening will be
varied. The earlier part of the even
ing Will be devoted to getting ac
quainted and incidentally to the com
pletion of the required subjects. Fol
lowing this a short program will be
given, the particulars of which have
not as yet been learned, After the
regular program a few etra stunts are
being arranged for, which will be fol

Announoe Plans for Social Decide
Against Union With Laws.
.The Sophomore clasB hold a meeting
yesterday morning In U 208 to hear
the report's of several committees.
The party committee announced that
preparations were, under way for an

"skidoo" party. Chairman Nelson as
sured those pdesent that every thing
would be done, by the committee to
maketthe party on Friday February

class with the Freshman Laws report;

The committee on Investigating the
accident to the automobile used In the
thrilling rescue of the kidnaped Master

A motion was adopted directing the
President to appoint a committee-to
memorialize the Board of Regents to
furnish an athletlq field.

KANSAS GAME ANNOUNCED.
To Play Cornhuskers In Lincoln
on
Saturday, February 9.
Manager Eager has signed a con
tract with the manager of the Kansas
University basketball team for a con
test between the Jayhawkers and the
Cornhuskers on Saturday evening,
Fobruary 9, In the Nebraska Armory.
The closing of the agreement came
after considerable correspondence and
assures the biggest game of the year
on the home floor.
The Jayhawkers of last year defeat
ed the Nebraska team badly on the
Lincoln floor and the Cornhuskers are
determined that this year' they will
retrieve their former defeat with a
vengeance. The clean cut victory over
Iowa last Monday has put renewed
life Into the Nebraska team and dally
practice has been unusually fas', nnd
effective over since
To add to the pleasure of the eve-J
ning Manager Eager also announces
that ho has made arrangements for a
"Basketball Informal" to follow the
game in Memorial Hall. Since the
game is to come on Saturday evening,
the young ladles of our institution
will be under no restrictions and it is
expected that the dance will be lib
erally patronized.

Secretary Der Klnderen Secures Files
for Y. M. C. A. Rooms.
Secretary Der Kinderen Is making
strenuous efforts to secure a good
collection of dally newspapers from
the towns thruout'the state. He has
written to tho publishers of mots of
the larger newspapers in this section
and so far has received the promise
of a dally copy of the Lincoln News,
Journal, and Star, the Omaha News,
the Fairmont Gazette, and the Kear
ney Hub. It is hoped to secure pa
pers from at least thirty towns.
J. C. Knode Elected.
Mr. Knode was elected captain of
the track team last night. He has an
excellent record in athletics and will
make a strong captain for the Ne
braska team.

Senior Play Committee 8ets Date for
Competition.
Tryouts for the Senior class play
will be hold Tuesday and Wednesday
evenings; February 5 and 0, 1907. Try
outs will consist of short selections
from tho "Taming, of the Shrew" and
it Is requested that not more than two
candidates try out together. Profes
sor Losoy, who is to coach tho play,

SELECTS AWARD.
Dean Pound Picks Books To Be Given
to Ranking Freshman Laws.
Dea Pound, of tho College of Law,
has selected tho books which will bo
awarded to the three members of tho
first-year law class who attain the
highest rank in the studies of the first
semester. The books are given by a
member of the Nebraska bar and will
be awarded as son after the end ot
the semester as the grades of the
members of the class can bo determ
ined. The first prize will be a set of
tho complete works of Sir Henry
Maine, In six volumes; the second
prize, Pollqck & Maltland, "History
of English Law," in two volumes; third
prize, Salem, "Institute of Roman
Law," one volume. The prizes this
years are probably the most valuable
that have -been' given in this connec
tion. The set of Sir Henry Maine's
works is valued at over $20; the His
tory of English Law Is worth about
$12, and tho Institutes of Roman Law,
about $5.00.
In 1905-'06 the prizes respectively
were: Lord Campbell's "Lives of the
Chancellors"; Lord Campbell's, "Lives
of tho Chief Justices"; Holland's, "Jur
isprudence." Tho winners last year
were Duano Blttenbender, Clement L.
Waldron, Glenn N. Venrlch, Mason
Wheeler, Horace A. Robbins, Martin
L. Frerlchs, and Harold W. Robbins,

Whereas, Tho methods heretofore in
vogue for electing Btudont members of
tho Athletic Board Jiavo been opon to
the charge of corruption, tho creation
and maintenance of campaign funds,

Methods of bad political practise, and'
Whereas, Tho Athletic Board is anx
ious to make tho election a fair and
impartial expression of tho University
sontimont with regard to tho student
representatives upon tho Board, and
to eliminate all appearanco of graft
and political manipulation and to give
all students an equal chance to vote
and bo counted upon election day;
Therefore; the Athletic Board adopts
the following plan for conducting tho .

All registered students, alumni, and,
members of tho faculty of the Univer
sity may become eligible to vote for
student members of the Atahletlo
Board by registering themselves with
tho registration board, hereinafter to
bo provided for, and upon the pay
ment of twenty-five cents, Person's
wishing to become eligible to vote
shall present themselves in person to
the hoard of registration and register
their names, classes and college.
At the time of registration the voter
shall receive a card which shall bear
his name, class and college. This card
must be presented at the polling place
on election day as, a means of identi
fication. Tho card shall then be
marked "voted."
Tho voter's card, when presented to
tho regular ticket sellers not at the
admission gate' or door for any ath
letic event controlled by the Athletic
Board during the year in which 'the
card was issued, shall be exchanged
for a twenty-five cent ticket or for its
face value upon . any ' other priced
ticket by the' payment ot the differ-
enco. No money shall bo refunded In ,
exchange for any ticket of less value
tlmn twenty-five cents. '
Students, alumni and members of
the faculty pin-chasing soasbn football
tickets shall be. entitled to vote with

for registration on the 'presentation of
