general scientific group moro flexible
in regard to eloctlves. They also hopo
to make It necessary to maintain the
numerous minor spocial groups of
study which students so frequently
resort to In tho hope of escaping one
of tho more difficult required branches.
A draft of thqir plans will bo sub
mitted to the commltteo on courses of
study) after which It will .bo taken bo

BASKET-BALL BOOMING.
Large Squad Putting In Good Work.
Prospects Excellent.
Interest in athletics centers In
basket-ball now that tho football boo
son is over. Tho men aro pitching
Into practlco In a way that promises
groat things this wlntor. Twenty-flvo
men hove been practising regularly
for nearly two .months now and among
these are seven or eight veterans, all
of whom are playing faster ball than
they over' did 'before.
Manager Eager had a trip arranged
for tho mlddlo of this month lnclud.
Ing games with Bakef, Haskell; St.
Louis University and others,' but ho
could not arrange a dato with Kansas
and on this account It was decided to
valt till next semester when a gamo
could bo scheduled with the latter.
However, there will bo some homo
games soon a'nd It Is up to the studontfl
to get out and support tho team, con
tinuing tho same manifestation of
loyalty and college spirit they have
shown during tho football season.
Coach Foster, who, now that tho
football season is over, will assist In
coaching the team, has been out
watching practise and, getting n lino
on Nebraska's stylo of play.. Ho char
acterizes It as much milder and freor
from roughness than tho play preva
lent in the east.
.No better or moro serviceable pres
ent than a good fountain pen. Got It
at the Co-op.
