Relics on Display.
Tho Omaha Charley collection of In
dian relics, recently secured by tho
State Historical Society, will soon bo
entirely mounted. Of tho live, hun
dred Interesting and Instructive groups
of thh? collection, ono caso of Indian
dolls Is especially worthy of examina
tion. These dolls nro dressed in the
costumes of tlio various tribes. One
pair of Ogalalla dolls Is unusually
flno, representing a warrior and his
squaw. Each wears a moon shell and
is elaborately decorated In beads.
In tho same caso Is an Interesting,
though gruesome relic, In tho form of
a quirt or Indian whip. The handle Is
of polished human bono, and for a lash
Is a human scalp of long, black hair,
carefully braided and tied. The "un
der side of th'o scalp Is artistically
decorated with bead work.
