RECEPTION AT FARM.
Y. M. C. A. at University Farm to Give
. Reception Tonight.
The Young Men's Christian Associa
tion at the University Farm holds a
recoption to Farm StudentB this oven
ing in the new Agricultural Hall. A
short program will be given, followed
by various "stunts" and light refresh
ments. A number of men from iho
University Y. M. C. a. are planning to
go out to the Farm on tho car which
leaves Tenth and O streets at 7:45
p. m.
The Farm Y. M. C. A. was organ
ized last year and had a flourishing
existence' up to the close of tho last
term. It is hoped to renew the en
thusiasm this year anil increase both
the size and influence of the organiza
tion. DR. FINDLEY WILL 8PEAK.
New Member of .Medical Faculty to
Address Medical Society.
Dr. Palmer Flndloy of tho clinical
faculty, who is to speak bofore the
Medical Society on Saturday evening,
is a new man to the University, hav
ing accepted a call from. Chicago only
last May. He Is a student of marked
ability and a good speaker. A large
audience is expected to welcome him
to the University on his first visit.
Tho general University public is in
vited and wll bo glad to ltnow that
the lecture, wheh is entitled "Tho
Mythology of Obstetrics," was deliv
ered last spring at one of the general
convocations of the University of Chi
cago, was very favorably commented
on by the student body. It Bhould be
understood that tho lecture Is of gen
eral Interest and Is -classical not
technical. Dr. Flndley has been for
years a close student of classical
mythology as a result of his college
training.
Freshman-8ophomore Receipts.
Tho gate receipts -of the Freshman
Sophomoro game amounted to $35.10.
There were 234 paid admissions at the
gate and it is. probable, the total re
ceipts will bo much larger when all
who held tickets for sale have
checked in.
Freshman Hop.
Tho Freshman, Hop cpmmitteo has
decided to hold the annual Freshman
function January 11th.
Professor Barber has consented to
deliver an illustrated lecture next
Monday ovening before tho students
of Vergil In the University, on sqmo
Roman antiquities that aro of inter
est to readers of the Aeneid.
The dlfflpulty caused by the refusal
of Rothgob, ox-Illinois, to referee to
morrow's game with Kansas has fin
ally been adjusted. Kennody, ex-Chicago,
is to referee and Hammlll, also
ex-Chicago, will umpire.
