MASS MEETING
ROUSING FOOTBALL RALLY FOR
VA KAN8AS GAME THIS MORNING.
Band Will Play Prize 8ong Yells to
Be Practised Speeches by Eager,
Foster, Stuart, and Maxey.
Football enthusiasm, which hns
reached a high pitch over tho Kansas,
game tomorrow, will have a chance to
vent itself at chapel this morning.
If tho signs point-accurately, this
morning's meeting will be the most
enthusiastic demonstration of its char
acter over held at theUniversity.
The temporary severanco of athletic
relations between tho two neighboring
rivals has served only to quicken and
intensify tho interest in tho big grid
iron conflict tomorrow. Nebraska
rooters and ,7dopesters" feel very much
encouraged by the outcome of the
Wnshburn-Kansas and St. Louis-Knn
sas games, the one a tie, "the. other a
defeat for the formidable Jayhawkors.
Altho these results tend to inijpird
confidence in the might of the Corn
huskcr eleven, no ono regards the
game as a "cinch" for cither school.
This morning the cadet band will
play the now prize song which will bo
tried for tho first time by the rooters
present. Yells will be practised under
tho direction of tho rooting leaders.
This feature df tho program will bo.
emphasized and it is hoped that the
rooting Saturday afternoon will bo tho
most effective "over done;
"Tho popular. Doctor Maxoy will make
one of his characteristic speeches.
Manager Eager will tell every ono to
attend tho game and make a few other
. woll received remarks. t Coach Foster
will overcome his customary bashful
ness and intimate some of the things
he intends tt' do to Kansas. Assistant
Coach Stuart is-also billed to address
therobterbsses."

It was tho too of Loft Half Burnett
that kicked tho victory for tho first

each half, tho last ono coming under
dlfilcult conditions nftor tho ball hnd
been fumbled. A safety In tho first
half gavo tho Sophomoros their only
points.
Both sides played tho old stylo gamo
and only onco was a forward passant:
tomptod, tho Sophomoros then gaining
only a fow yards. Straight footbnll

Tho swift back field of tho Fresh
men gavo their opponents tho greatest
trouble and was responsible Jn great
degree for tho victory.
- Tho contest was a good tone of tho
now f rules and showed that a light
team Is greatly benefited by them. .The
Sophomores outwolghod their oppot
nonts, but wore able to mako their
downs only five times, being forced to
punt frequently. : l
The initial scoro came at tho mid
dlo of tho first half. Boll caught a
poor pass back of tho south goal lino
and did good work in punting out.
Boltzer signaled for a fair catch, of
this punt and caught tho ball. A mln
uto Inter-Burnett sent the ball flying
between tho posts from a place kick.
On the next klclooff-a Freshman ran i
tho ball back; of tho goal liner and a'
Sophomoro fell upon him, scoring two "
points for tho second year men.
In tho second half, near thocloso of
tho gamo, tho Freshmen, byllno
plunges, forced tho ball down to tho
thirty-yard lino, whoro Burnett made
his .second place kick.
Ono of tho largest crowds that over
wltnessed-a class gamo at Nebraska
was present. Tho-total receipts were
$35.1.0.
