For tho first time In six years a No
braska football team has suffered de
foat on Nobraska Field. Tho stalwart
Cornhuskers havo yielded to tho moro
stalwart men from Amos. There Is
nothing discreditable In defeat when
a team has dono Its boBt and played a
clean, strong game, nor Is there aught
but honor to Ames In a victory won
under such conditions.
Nebraska played a splendid game
from start to finish. (She was by no
means In the best of condition to
meet so formidable an enemy. Some
of her besfmon were out of the game
entlroly and othora hadnot recovered
Hawkeye Club Meeting.
Tho Hawkeye Club hold Its first
meeting of tho yoai last Friday even
ing at tho homo of Miss Marcla Had-
ley. A very large crowd was out, all
but two or three of the large number
of inwn Frnahmen being present. Tho
Ames foam had been Invited and tho
Invitation had boon accepted, but ow
ing to tho latenes3 of their arrival and
the fatigue of tho men from the long
trip, they wore not able to attend the
meeting.

elected: Mr. Albert Aron, president;

urer. Aftor a short program, consist
ing of a reading by MlssGoldena Fin
lay and sovoral vocal selections by
Miss Cottier, tho whole crowd Joined

of Mrs. Raymond. At a lato hour tho
crowd went homo to gain strength for
the next day to cheer our own team on
against their Hawkeye brethren.

day night at tho homo of Miss Georgia
B. Field was a complete success.
About thirty wero present.
Tho program began at 8:30 with a
solo by Miss Laura Rhoades. Next
in order was the "Joke" program. The
company was divided Into two groupes.
Each gentleman had to tell each lady
in his group a story and these wero
repeated by the ladles after tho two

spent In dancing. Miss Johnson fur

teen numbers on tho dancing program.
Tho object of tho party wasto get
the members of tho staff acquainted!

spirit. In this respect, as well as
from tho point of view of enjoyment,
It was a complotc success.
