orated. They wasted Utile tlmo in
travorBlng tho distance between Stato
street and their respective Glomes.
Tho spnh, proclamations are .lurid af-
fairs, teeming with alliteration and
making awful threats against tho
"tens." " They are pronounced tho
best posters put out In recent years.
Stato street shopkeepers were out
early Monday morning washing posters
and paste from their windows and
sidewalks. Many of tho poBtorB, how
over, were pasted in inaccessible
places, and these remained untouched..
Tho following is tho Inflammatory
poster that means a challenge for tho
big rush Friday night:
Ye Freshmen, Attention I
Foolish Freaks of Frightened Fresh
men, Forget your Former Fathers
and tho Farm, and Fall Foro tho
Floating Flag of Free Fellowship.
Run,- ye Rotten Rabble of Rumpled
Rummies, before tho Royal Rulo of
tho Ripping, Rollicking, Remarkable
Class of 1909.
On and Out of the Orbs of Our Oscil
lating Optical Organs, ye Ossified
Ourang Outangs.
Skidoo, ye Sappy Suckling Simple
tons, and Salaam to tho Surpassing
Supremacy of tho Swarthy Sopho
mores. Hike and Hunt, ye Hopeless, Hungry.
Hooslers, and Humble yourselves to
the following rules of tho Husky
Host of Honored 1909.
Then follow the rules by which tho
Freshmen.are commanded to wear tho
Freshman cap, enjoined against smok
ing on the campus and against going
out after day before Friday, against
going litto -Joe Parker's, against wear
ing red neckties or celuloid collars,
etc. - ,
The appointed hour for Friday nlgh't
is 7; 23. Michigan Daily.
At Syracuse.
The matter of the freshmen and
sophomores falling to wear their caps
Is taking a rather significant form.
Collego custom is supposeuto bo re
spected by all, and when tho upper
classes have adopted any reasonable
rules they are to bo observed and
obeyed.
It was especially observable at tho
football game that a large number of
freshment wore not wearing their class
cap. The rule is that freshmon shall
wear tho regulation green cap at-allJ
times except Sundays. This disobe
dience on the part of tho entering
clasB Is a spirit of disloyalty which
has not been manifest nore before. Not
only is tho failure to wear a greon
cap to bo considered, but also what,
will this lndifforenco to the rules ofJ
the upperclasses flnallylead. to if this
disregard on tho part ot the entering
class Is going to bo permitted to con
tinue. . "
, Sophomores, you might do well to
remember that anything other than a
green cap is out of placo on a fresbT
man's head while on tho campus or at
any college ga"me or function. Syra
cuse Orango. ,
Candidates for the cross country
Bquad are beginning to appear and it is
hoped that sufficient interest may de
velop to secure a strong team to send
to Chicago on Thanksgiving.
Professors E. A. Burnett and H. R.
Smith of the Department of Animal
Husbandry left last night for Kansas
City to attend a stock show.
Delta Upsllon held an .informal
dance at tho chapter house on Satur
day evening. An' exceptionally pleas
ant eyenlng is reported by those who
were present.
