Entertained at the Delta Upsllon House Dr. Pound Recites His tory pf Military Drill. The ofllcers and men of Company A gathered at the Delta Upsllon house1 last Saturday evening and spent four hours getting better acquainted and' becoming charged with enthusiasm for competitive drill day. Cards, musld and cigars were the principal features of the evening. With true A Company spirit, a num ber of the former ofllcers of the com pany were present, going back as far" as Dean Roscoe Pound, who was cap tain in 1888. After the refreshments had dlsap peared, Dean Pound gave a brief1 sketch of military life at tho Univer sity in his day, which saw practically1 the beginning of our military. depart ment He recounted the long and' glorious record of A Company, includ-' lng the winning of the Omaha cup ia the national competitive drill at Oma ha In 1892. He was lollowed by "Chap lain" George Bartlett, who told a num bro of laughable Incidents of camp life. Letters containing best wishes! for the company's success woro re ceived and read from Captain1 (now' Congressman) E. M. Pollard, '93, H. A. Lukey, '01, and Newton Buckley, '03. After these, Capt. A. H. Liindin, '04x made a stirring appeal for oven moro1 enthusiasm and Major Crites, '06, made the closing speech of the even ing. - Residences of Students. The residence of men and- women1 -rstudent8 in the same lodging houso3 (as distinguished from families) Is not approved and not, as a rule, per mitted. A landlady rooming women students is expected to provide fb'r their Use, tiH-half afier ten on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, a reception room properly warmed and lighted. Women students in these houses will receive gentlemen callers only In the reception rooms. Gentlemen will .take notice and govern them'setves accordingly. REGISTRAR.
