Mr. Hutchner Talks on Men, Mules and Horses. "Tales from a Traveler's Note-book" was tho title of tho lecture given by Mr. Henry Huckner at convocation yesterday. Tho tales consisted of a series of anecdotes in illustration of tho evolutionary stages between tho mule, the horse and man, at the end of which tho lecturer drew pithy mor als rotative to various illusions com mon in the lives of most men, and a few women. From beginning to end tho talk was very interesting and in structive. Mr. Hutchner is a lecturer of na tional repute, a scholar of noto and ono ofv tho leading theosophists of America. A large amount of monoy has been spent in erecting a grand stand and. bleachers and in fixing up tho diamond. Tho now ball park is on tho site of-the old F. & M. park and is close enough in to draw large crowds. Manager "Ducky" Holmes has been working hard all spring getting his team together and If their actions on tho diamond in tho last day or two aro any criterion, thoy certainly look like a bunch of winners. "Ducky" is well known In baseball circles, be ing an old "major leaguer," and 1st promising the local fans all kinds of amusement down at his 'play ground on Twenty-first street. He announces tho following practice games: April 4 and 5, Minneapolis; April and 7, University; April 9 and 10, Milwaukee; April 11, 12 and 13, Chicago; April 14, St. Paul; April 18, 19, 23 and 24, University; April 25 and 2G, Topeka. Tho regular league season will bo opened, with Omaha on the local ground on Wednesday, May 2, and as Fenlon is playing with Omaha, it is expected that a number of University students will go down and help start the ball rolling.
