Competitive Drill.
Tho Pershing Rifles havo been con
sidering for some time the advisability
of holding a competitive drill with
flomo other similar organization. It is
expected thnt arrangements will be
made to hold such a drill with one of
the crack companies of Omaha. Such
a move, would be of groat interest to
the students who are acquainted with
the Pershing Rifles and Its work.
The company was organized in the
early nineties and was named after
the commandant of cadets, Captain
Pershing, wfib afterward won consid
erable fame In the Philippine Islands.
One of the company's first achieve
ments was to win a large and inter
esting competitive drill In Omaha.
Since then the company has continued
to devote Itself especially to the small
and seemingly unimportant points of
drill. As a result it has won a repu
tation for itself. Its drill is like the
movement of a vast pieco of machin
ery, each part working shioothly and
In perfect harmony with every other
part.
, Tho membership consists of men
who have had"somo previous-experience
in drill nnd who wish to smooth
off the rough edges and acquire a
knowledge of the finer points of drill.
All of tho first sergeants havo applica
tion blanks and all who wish may
hand In their application for member
ship. This ypar the pompany has decided
to hold no formal dance. In its stead
an informal hop will bo held at Fra
ternity Hall, Deceniber 15.
