Yesterday afternoon one of tho In
lorb)uJ) football mannsora asked per
mlHlqu of tho ofllclals to schodulo a
ganiq. for Friday afternoon, nntl was
refused on tho ground that to allow
a gnrne of Intorclnss football In tho
ufloraoQU of any Hchool tlrty would cut
Into VQKMlav class work too much. If
tho authorities maintain tholr stand
la this position, it will mean tho failure
of lp.toroln.ss football this year, and wo
do nqt. Tool that thoy aro Justified In
assuming this attitude Thoro will bo
bud three games of football botweon
(ho -classes this year, as the law class
en have not organlzod loams as yet,
and have fused with tho academic
classes. This moans that six teams,
or slxjty mon, will play, and it is safe
to say that not ovor a fourth of theso
havo classes from two to threo In the
afternoon of any day. "Vo havo been
lntorcstpd..in lqtorcltBs athletics for
sooiq while, bijt wo have no'vor yot
soen. anybody who was not a player
cut a class for a gamo, so that at tho
moat thoro would ho but twenty cuts
tais.(montli on account of tho games.
It does not seem, to tho avorago stu
dent that this is onougTT of a disadvan
tage to, justify the' authorities In pro-
blb'uing contests on any day but Sat
urday In tho f,aco of tho many disad
vantages, which contests on that day
would suffer from. In tho first placo,
it vroald fee nrjvctically impossible to
g,et oiif J1 9nV sort of a crowd at the
Intorcloss games if thoy woro played,
Stujrday morning, as. only a vory
small po.rt of tho sudont body havo
any qaslon for t coming upon tho

tho intrclass board from getting any
gato-monoy with which to buy .sweat
ers for tho champion team, thua with
drawing on,p of. tho greatest induce
ments for ,mon to try out'for tho clasa

on the; class teams is of great Impor
tances sb,qwn by tho fact that three'
of thp men playing on tho varsity at
tho present time Drat played on class
.tcms, and probably would never have
tried -out for, tho first 'team had it not
boon for .their experiences on class

Havo you ovor dono any long dis
tance running? Do you think you can
run? Would you llko to run with tho
C. C. squad for oxerclsd? Wo need
you in this squad.
Nobraeka Bhould haVo between-ilfty
and ono hundred mon running with
tho C. C. squad every night, and last
night only nlno men woro out. Ne
braska was represented by an excep
tionally strong toam last year, but ono
of theso mon Is nvailablo this year.
If wo expect to retain tho cup Nebras
ka; must havo more men, nnd better
mon to win again. Thoro Is no doubt
but that It will tako a much better
toam to win this year than It did in
1901. At least twenty-five students
havo taken pnrt In the C. C. work
this year, and It Is tho duty of every
man- to como-out and do his best to
help develop a winning team. There
will bo a meotlng of all thorfo Interest

Thursday, November 0.
This meeting Is called to arouse
onco more tho Interest which seems
to bo faBt dying out, except with a
handful of men. It Is for the purpose
of transacting some Important busi

Illinois Game Not to Be Moved.
Tho following artlclo regarding the
Thanksgiving gamo with Illinois ap
peared in "The Illinl," tho dally news
papor of tho Unlvorslty of Illinois,
Sunday:
"President William Moldorth of the
Threo Byo lcaguo yostorday presented
a petition to Ornduato Manager Huff,
asking thut tho Illinois-Nebraska game
on Thanksgiving Day, be played at
Peoria. Tho invitation was 'signed by
Mayor Tolson. President Meldroth
and tho newspapers of tho city.
Tho Threo Eye league directors at a
recent meotlng voted freo use of tho
Lake View grounds and endorsed tho
petition."
When soon yesterday afternoon In
regard to tho abovo article, Dr. Clapp
mado tho following statement:
"Undor no consideration would we,
thlnlc of tnklng tbo Thanksgiving
gamo away from Lincoln. Arrange
ments havo been completed for hold
ing tho contest hero and they will
not be changed. Iq my opinion there
would not ho as large an attendance
at tho gamo wore It held In Peoria
as thoro will bo horo in Lincoln.
' "If a Nebraska-Illinois game is
scheduled noxt year It probably will
bo played at Champaign but the game
this season will be pulled off in Lin-coln?r
