Freshmen Today.
iThe Freshman-class meeting which
has been hanging In tho air for so
long will be held today during convo
cation, period In chapel.
The apparent- delay of tho meeting
has not In any way weakened class
spirit; on tho cgntrary, It seems to
have strengthened it. Tho verdant
Freshmen are already beginning to
show a shade of tan below tho green.
Thoy aro bent on taking Initiative
measuros. Tnoy want to uo away witn
old traditions, and tho first tra'dltlon
confronting them says that tho first
president shall bo either from Lincoln
or Omaha.
Lincoln is represented by Benedict,
who has many friends, especially In
athletic fields, pmaha's man Is Pat
terson, whose campaign Is actively
managed' by his high school jlassmate.
The third candidate Js Elliot' of Cen
tral City and tho war cry of his sup
porters is that he 1b neither from Lin-
rcoln nor Omaha.
Guarded by .tho history of former
classes, tho class of '09 has taken
great precautions to avoid tho rocks
and shoals on which tho political-ships
of former classes have been wrecked.
Thoy have secured tho efficient ser
vices of D. P. Do Young, president of
tho Junior class, to preside at tho
mooting, and no ono will bo admitted
without tho greon registration card
from tho registrars office.
