The Faculty was too much for the Business Men yesterday afternoon and as a result they walked off with the baseball game by a score of 10 to 7. The old fellows limbered up great and the way they went after the sphere would make some of the leaguers envious. The only weak spot on eith er team was the pitching staff. The men would do fine for four or five tosses, but their wing soon gave out and they Immediately retired. There was one thing that the managers would not stand and that was errors. As soon as a man showed a yellow streak he was Immediately retired and another sent in to fill his position. Both managers had plenty of men on their pay roll. Notwithstanding the fact that such old-timers as Raymond, Bhepard, Bell, Woods and Funkhouser were on the Commercials. Porslnger, Moore, Payne, Heald, Condra and Piper were play ing gilt edge ball and victory had to come. The work of the toam'S constituents- on the sidelines was espe cially worthy of mention, and the root ing was great. A neat sum was clean od up for- the College Settlement fund. .The following is the lineup and score : .Commercials Faculty Pitcher. Cornell, Boll, Woods .. Little, Persinger Catcher'. . Ttf Varsity won a closer game from . the Towrt Team yesterday afternoon by a score of 1 to 2. The Town Team was ifiade up of fast players, three of them being old Varsity players, and the support they gave Bennet was good. Bennet Is the best visiting pitcher, with the exception of some of the league pitchers, that has tossed a ball across the plate. He was re sponsible for several strike outs, and at all times ho had perfect control 0.11 speed to burn. Miller, the old Vars ity catcher and fielder, played back stop for Bennet. With Hammond at BGcond, Fetz at short, and MIclcel at first this team kept the Varsity on the move. ' The base running of Nebraska was a little off color in yesterday's game but this was made up by the excellent support the team gave "Chesbro" ,1 I At RIGGS' I Morse, the man with tho spit ball. The work of the Varsity was really tame though as compared" with tho work of our Faculty. The game with Still College having been called off will make tho number of home games yet to be played rather few in number. One of tho best games in tho remain ing part of the schodule is tho game with Creighton. The score was as follows: Nebraska R. H. P.O. A. E. Bon nie's best punt was 51 yards, and this was the best punt in tho contest. Drain was a close second, and when tho summation was made It was found that ho lacked but one foot In tlolng Bennle. The wind being pretty strong made It hard for tho men to do their best and obtain the best results.
