De partment is making a photographic nnd photometric study of the arc light for his Senior Thesis. The 'particular object of the experiment is to deter mine tho effect of alternating current at different phase angles. In order to do this an ingenius apparatus has been demised which consists principally o.' a slotted disc to be revolved In synachtonlsm with the dynamo so that the slot is in position before the photo graphic apparatus at the instantwhen the phase relations that are to be stud ied are producing their effect upon the arc. By adjustment the entire cycle (an be studied, and complete data as to lighting power on appearance of the arc obtained.
