Tho lecture and pictures will cover the pe riod of Amerlcnn History from 1830 to 1845, and will embrace photography and characters of Jackson, Van Burcn, Clay and Polk, characters on the cam paigns of 1832 to 1814, maps and other Interesting historical pictures. Professor Fling, of the Department of European History, gave a lecture on "Impressions Received from Gieat Paintings Studied In Europe," yester day evening before the Southeastern Nebraska Educational Association which Is in session at Beatrice. Must bo strong in English and History and si eclalled In Education. The open ing is a valuable one, and If the right person can be found, he Is almost sure of the position. ProfoBsor Bruner, of the Department of Entomology, entertained the stu dents of the class In Economic Ento mology at his home Tuesday evening. Those present leport a veiy enjoyable time C. K. Sargent, '02, Law 04, leavou this evening for Panama, where he wltTl fill a clerical position on tho Panama Canal Commission to which he has been recently appointed. Mr. Sargent has made a very excellent record while in the University. Last semester he was chief Justice of the supreme court of the Law School and up to the time he left school, was a theme reader In the Rhetoric Department. He no doubt received his appointment on the scoip of tho high grade with which he passed a civil service examination last winter. He leaves this evening for New York from where ho will sail for Panama In a few days. Mr. Sargent enters on his new duties with the best wishes of his niany University friends. The popular roller skating rink ut the Auditorium Is still running in full blast, and the best thing you can do, if you have not been there already, Is to go down there and put on a pair of skates and take a whirl before It grows too warm and the rink Is closed. It will bo open for a few weeks yet, bo fore it doses up for the season. If you have been there once, you need no further urging, foi we know you will come again and again every time the oi.portunlty offers itself, and If you have never tried It you should do so, just once, after that you will need no uiglng. A majority of University stu dents do not understand what pleas ure roller skating affoids, and do not teallzo that any afternoon or evening they may go to the rink they will find a largo number of University young men and ladles taking In the pleasure or roller skating. Twenty cents will admit you and another twenty cents will rent you a pair of skates for the afternoon or evening. Ladles admit ted free in tho afternoon.
