Seven freshmen of Northwestern Un
iversity were so severely hazed re
cently that the cases of three will
piobably prove fatal. The hazing con
sisted of thrusting the boys into a
greasy wooden chute, down which they
shot 30 feet into a sandpit filled with
water and floating ice. They were
flfhed out by means of a lasso, and
were then compelled to walk home in
their wet clothing.
