White, who has been at home on account of sickness, returned to work this week. L. A. Sheldon was called home Fri day by the death of his uncle and came back Monday night. F. II. Geer and W. L. Hartzell have taken as the subject for their thesis the determination of the cost of light ing an isolated house with electricity furnished by a small dynamo, driven by a Cushman two-cycle gasoline en gine. The engine is one that has been used at the State Farm In the course in Farm Machinery and was delivered at the shops yesterday, but the dynamo has not'arrlved. This Is a very prac tical subject on which there is but little data and as the gas engine is coming to be very commonly used on the farm, there Is a demand for more Information as to the cost of running them to furnish light for the various buildings on the farm. At the meeting of the Engineering Society tonight L. E. Hurtz, '03, of the Lincoln Gas & Electric Co., will speak on the "Nernst Lamp." All engineer ing students should make a special ef fort to be present. CHICAGO FELLOWSHIPS. The University of Chicago annually offers Fellowships yielding stipends of from $120 to $520.
