Second junior theme due at U 311. Academy Notes. Messrs. Drake of Beatrice and Ke rony of Omaha have registered in tho Academy for full work. Miss Edwyna Young, whom sickness compelled to discontinue work in the Academy, has returned to resume her work and is accompanied by a Bister, who will register in the University and also carry work in the School of Music. Miss Graco Bryan, daughter of JJie Hon. W. J. Bryan, has also resumed her studies after a period of confine ment. Tho Academy people were alarmed at the slow registration last week, but Monday's registration, as in the case of the Univeisity, was imich more en couraging. Professor Hodgman expects to at tend the Chicago meeting of the Na tional Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. He will prob ably go on as far east as New York state for a brief vluit -among old irlcnds and relatives. Dr. Clnpp wishes all men who intend to try for the varsity gymna sium team to report this evening at 4 o'clock. There is little time for them to round into shape, as these events are pulled off the 22d of February. All men Intending to go Into the try-out nie requested to report. Frank Williams of the Junior ( lass read a paper on Thursday before the State Horticultural society on "Some Diseases Arising trom Improper Prun ing," which was received wlth'a groat deal of approbation by the members of the society. Mr. Williams Illustrated ills paper with photographs of some particularly bad pruning In the city in tho vicinity of the University. One member said that any man who would butcher a tree in such a manner ought to be sent to tho penitentiary. Dr. Charles Root, '00, who Is now practicing medicine at Newport, Nebr., was a campus visitor during examina tion week. He graduated fjom the University School of Medicine, in 1903.
