The arrangoment at Harvard of
awards, such as sweaters, caps, etc.,
has been revised as follows:
Sweaters a nd unframed pictures
shall bo given to oach head coach; to
members of tho university football
and baseball crews, track and' hockey
organizations who aro entitled to wear
the "H"; to members of the froBhman
football, baseball and crew organiza
tions who are entitled to class numer
als; and also sweaters to members of
tho second football teams, not to ex
ceed 20, and second basoball teams,
not to exceed 15, indicated by tho head
coaches. In tho case of tho university
teams tho respective managers shall
be authorized to include tho cost of
theBe rememberances as part of the
legitimate expenses of their teams, but
in tho case of tho freshman teams,
which are expected to bo self-supporting,
tho respective deficits must bo
made good by contribution from tho
class concerned.
The members of teams in the minor
sports who are entitled to wear tho
"H" awarded in thoso Bporta may also
receive tho sweaters and unframed pic
tures as abovo indicated, provived that
such awards be paid for without tho
management incurring any deficit.
As regards cups or medals, tho com
mitteo authorizes tho following prac
tice, which has heretofore prevailed:
1. Cups for the winners in tho graded
crew and class races.
2. Bronze medals for first place win
ners in tho freshman, inter class and
all extra track moots; also for hare
and hound contests. Gold medals aro to
be given for broken records.
3. Cups or medals for the winners
in singles and doubles In the fall and
spring tennis tournaments.
4. For the Lelter cup baseball se
ries cups have already been provided
from outside sources.
5. For members of the university
football teams cups or minaturo foot
balls are not furnished by the athletic
committee, but have occasionally been
provided from outside sources.
6. Hatbands may be given each sea
son to members of the university and
freshman football and baseball crews
and university track organizations.
Selection shall be the samo as In tho
case of sweators already mentioned.
L. L Hartor who graduated a coiiple
of years ago, and who is now one of
the botanical Investigators in tho bu
reau of plant Industry in Washington,
has nearly completed a thesis for tho
master's degree on "Tho Variation of
Wheat Varieties In Toxie Salt Solu
tions." Ho has been at tho university
the past month working upon It, under
direction of Professor Bessey. Two ad
ditional bundles of botanical speci
mens, aggregating about 300 species
were received by the department of
botany last week. They will be added
to the Herbarium as Boon as they can
be mounted.
