Academy Notes.
The ( hapel exercises take i)lae at

at chapel yesterday to sell tickets for

A new Smith Premier typewriter has
been added to the office equipment in
anticipation of an increasing corre
spondence in connection with the now
home study courses now approaching
completion. Dr. Sherman and Profes
sor Stuff have finished the first of tho
twelve lessons in the elementary Eng
lish course and this lesson is being
mimeographed this week Professors
Caldwell, Perslnger and Ajlsworth are
farther advanced in the American his
tory course., so that by the end of the
week the prlnteFs can go to work on
the prospectus of Ihese couises. The
first half of ea h oure will be mimeo
graphed so that possible enprs and
ambiguoiiB questions can be corrected
before the let-tons are printed Should
these courses meet the approval of
Nebraska teachers, others will bo In
augurated next year

MIbb Mitchell has been treated to a
new' demonstration table for her
physloa class. Now if a student does
not understand an experiment he will
be lafcl upon the new table, weights
attached to head and feet, the back
bone stretched and the idea driven in
between, the vertebrae.
Tho principal has received, with the
author's compliments, a xopy of Miss
Elizabeth Kingsbury's new edition of
Ernst's Flachmann als Ezieher It is
published by Ginn & Co and comes as
n pleasing reminder to academy peo
ple of a teacher greatly loved by all.
Miss Dean and Mrs. Hodgmau have
been greatly enjoying their calls upon
the ymme women the past week. The
first meeting of the focial Hour Club
will occur next Monday night at six
o'clock at the home of Mrs. Hodg
man. 700 North Sixteenth street. It
will be a -buffet supper and all young

Miss Josephine Bllxt has been com
pelled, through ill health, to leave her
university and academy work and go
to Colorado.
Four new students registered for
work the first few days. This makes
the registration exceed two hundred,
slightly, and with the new arrivals of
the second semester insures a larger
enrollmont than last year. An observ
