The registration at the Stanford
University of California showB the
class of '08 to be the largest that has
ever entered the university. Tho total
number of registrations reaches al
most 1,500.
A large torch light rally was held at
the California Unherslty last week.
The students fjled into procession, each
carrying a torch and marched to the
Greek theater, where there was high
revelry until a late hour.
The outlook for the Michigan foot
ball team is especially promising this
year. Many of the best players are
yet to leport and It is expected that
Captain Yost will be able to pick out
two teams, both of which will be able
to tip the scales at over a ton.
The French government has offered
a medal to be given each year to tho
student of Minnesota University who
shall pass tne highest examinations on
subjects selected by an authorized com
mittee. It Is believed that offer will
materially aid the study of French In
the university.
Minnesota University Juniors arid
Seniors hae decided they will not lift
their hats to the co-eds on the cam
pus. The object of the antl-hat-llftlng
assoclatjon is to do away with the
necessity of "bowing to every girl a
fellow meets."
"A man often has to lift his hat
manv times during a walk from one
building to another." said a Senior.
"Think of the trouble and also of the
wear and tear on a chao who, Is
studying."
None of the young men from the
small towns or the country has joined
the association. It is. made up entirely
