Not a hitch occurred to mar the evening's enjoymont, the music and refreshments were excellent, the floor good and the crowd not too largo, and not quito large enough. It was not aimed to have the dance a moneymak ing affair, as so many have been in tho past, but only a few over fifty couples attended', which was not as many as the committee wished1, or as the prep arations they had made deserved. One pleasant feature was the noticc uble absence of-stags. One, perhaps, two, who are not out of place, were observed, but tho usual number of eighteen or twenty were not in evi dence. What means those in charge adopted! .to rid themselves of thesq hangereon is not known, but it Is hoped they will divulge their secret.
