Editorial Remarks President Roosevelt has accepted tho honorary presidency of the Olym pic games to be held at the world's fair this summer. The king of Greece was personally Interested In the Olym pic games at Athens In 189G, and the highest officials of the French govern ment were patrons of the games at Paris In 1900. Tho girls' basket ball team, will have an opportunity to meet Minnesota again, and thlb time upon their own ftoor. It will not be with a feeling that they will have an opportunity to avenge a former defeat, but It will be a genuine plcauure to have the Minne sota girls here, ho that all University people may have a chance to see them play. Of course If our team wins we will all have reason to be glad on that account. But winning is not everything in all branches of ath letics. This Is gradually coming to bo the moie enlightened view There are other things that count, and which are really necessary to the realization of the best results In athletics. Noth ing is more essential than the culti vation of a friendly splilt with the Institutions which we niubt meet in athletic contests. It Is evident that tho Univcibity of Pennsylvania does not favor profes sionalism, as may be seen from the regulations that have been adjpteu thero. Do you agreo to remain during the entire college year? Is your connection with tho Univer sity of Pennsylvania the result of any promise or agreement, expressed or implied, regarding athletic services? Have you before or since enterfng tha University of Ponnylvanla en gaged in any athletic competitions eith er for a stake or for prize money, or a Ehare of entrance fees, or admission money, or have you taught or engaged In any athletic exercises as a means of Hvellhook, or have you at any- time taken part in any athletic sports for pecuniary gain or emoluments, either direct or Indirect, with the exception f receiving front tho college or ama teur association of which you are a member, the amount of which In ex penees Incurred by jou In represent ing 'such' organization! Only Four Mistakes In Calendar It Is lather remarkable that only four mistakes escaped the notice of the committee on the proof of the cal endar for the summer session. An un fortunate error was the omission of Mr. Barker'? " - - , . me faculty list. This was u mere clerical en or, which the office regrets. A belated letter has been received by Professor rtod'gnmn from Principal A. H. Water house, of tho Omaha high school, In which he makes suggestions, which have fortunately been already embod ied in tho summer program. It will bo remembered that tho director re quested suggestions from prominent school men of the state, and he has received much valuable assistance (rom them. Principal Waterhouse urges that a good, sensible course In phy siology be offered. This as will be noted, has already been arranged by Mr. Barker. Selected by the I Government!
