Editorial Remarks Material Is beliiK packed for exhibi tion at the World's Fair, and our uni versity will be represented In several lines. The means that have been placed In the bands or those who have been charged with this work are being made tho most or. The appropriations made for tho purpose were q.ilte lim ited, but they are as liberal as the cir cumstances would permit. Wo hope to be fairly well represented, and we can test assured that our Interests will he (arefully attended to and whatever if--done, will be done well In the general trend of affairs the Nebraskan is sometimes obliged to re mind Its readers of matters relating .) its existence. We have not aimed 'o torture our subset ibers with constant lemlndeis to come or send In and set tle accounts, but we would like to re mind thorn how matters stand, in ns agreeable a manner as possible. It is a difllcult matter to reach all against whom we have accounts in a manner that will attract their careful atten tion. Hence we now request that our subscribers who have not settled yet stiould yet should do so at their earli est possible convenience. The college paper cannot subs-iat on wind, although tho elements majsometlmes find their way Into our columns. Another thing that wo would like to remind those to whom it applies, is that ir any are re ceiving tho Nebraskan through some mistake when they have not ordered it, to remind us at once instead of letting the matter drag on to a dis ngreeabl outcome. o : If you never did a good thing In your life before, come out to the mass meet In gtoday. Come out and get into tho spirit or the proceedings, u oniy ror the physical benefit alone. Our basket-ball team Is going up against a hard proposition in Wisconsin and we want to seo it win. Keep this fact in mind and go to chapel this morning with the intention of yelling, to see if you have not forgotten how, if for no other reaBon. But there will be plenty going on to rouse up the most sedate or phlegmatic spirits. Thoro will be speakors 'who hope to be able to In struct tho crowd properly In tho ad visability of attending tjiis, the. great gamo of the season. Wisconsin Is tear ing up tho dust with her opponents, but there Is no great advantage on her side that would absolutely prevent our speedy team from beating her. We have got a good chance, and that is worth thinking about. It is hoped that In the mass meeting today our students will be drawn to a closer ap preciation in basket-ball and that their interest will bo sufficiently aroused to Impel them to support tho gamo bet ter. But In particular wo must keep our attention on this Wisconsin until the Badgers' pelts have boon extracted or our own exacted instead. Come out this morning and again tomorrow night. Let one bo the cause and tho other the effect if you have not yet made up your minds. o Our rieiboring Institutions have been Interested in tho difficulties at tendant upon the location of the new physic, building r.r.d have discussed thp situation quite frrrly. Rome have pre maturely concluded that athletics vc:o bound to go here. But now that every thing has been settled, wo are glad to Inform them that all our schedules will be carried out as originally planned. o A political cartoon Is one or the most deeoptho means that can be employed against any cause or individual. Exag geration is the foundation and tho mov ing principle in this kind of an attack on personalities, and its evident pur pose lb to present one central idea forcibly at. the expense of actual facts and triteness to life. If a cartoon showing some political notion Is worked out c loverly It sometimes pro duces a laugh, whether it carries con viction with it or not. But a cartoon illustiatlng a brutal and untrue accusa tion Kii'h as the Wot Id-Herald maid s. use of in the chief preconceived de velopment of the Temple building con u overfly, disgusts rather than amuses. It it was well done and had a good idea to illustrate it might serve to better effect, but its own inadequacy to fulfil even expected requirements condemns it, and monotonous repetition does not heH it either. E. church of this city talked to a large gathering of students yesterday morn lug on the subject "Authority of Re ligion." He said in part: "Religion is related to all forms or human society and every manner of human activity. Irreligious sciences or any of these college studies are Incomplete. They have not the finish, the touch, that makes perfect. Authority is internal and not external, it is within and not without. It may well be compared to a tree which grows and will spring up naturally under the proper influence of the soil. You can not keep it from growing if the conditions are right, but on tho other hand, If they are wrong, it will die and nothing under heaven can stop it. Truth will grow wherever the conditions are favora blo and the force of its growth will be felt." Dr. Wharton spoke of the relation C church to religion; that 'it declared what the Bible is and what it means thus helping to nourish religion. He warned the people about nourishing the tree or truth that it might grow and its influence be felt. The style" of the address was In his usual easy, energetic style which dem onstrates so much of the personal' characteristics of tho man. His im pressive appeal to young folks has such stimulating effects that we all like to hear him.
