Editorial Remarks
nees In doing bo might leave grounds
for drawing, an inference of such a
character as not ot be to anyono's
credit. Tho question shoulft be met
squarely and fairly, and any attempt
to tide it over to future discussion
should be discountenanced. If the class
sees fit to elect tho present appointees,
no protest can be made. By electing
men for the leading places on the
board the class will be responsible for
its own action. Let the class decide
this matter and have it laid on the
shelf once for all. And let every
Sophomore turn out and make his pres
ence and his own wishes felt in the
meeting.
Unless ordered discontinued Tho
Daily Nebraskan will be sent the com
ing semester to all present subscribers.
Tonight occurs the girls basket ball
tournament, and the prospects for a
hard contest for tho championship arc
promising. Tho teams havo already
been sized up by an Impartial authority
whose views havo "been already pub
lished in this paper, and an estimate
of thvlr respective merits indicates
that the battle for tho pennant will bo
cIoeo and exciting. Three games will
be played, thus affording a full even
ing's entertainment of an exceedingly
lively character.
There Is no reason why we should
not look ahead to the Wisconsin game
next week and point out the desirabil
ity of having a crowd out upon this oc
casion. TIub game will undoubtedly be
the beht upon our home schedule, and
as such is descning of special note.
The strength of the Badgers' team
is well known and when a contest
with tliat aggregation is scheduled, all
take It for granted that a game well
worth seeing is in view. So much for
the importance of the contest that
Is promised, and now looking at the
other considerations that aro incident
ally presented. Whenever a game with
a team of Wisconsin's calibre takes
place here University people should
t'rel a common incentive to come out
and support it. The measure of sup
port accorded to basket ball In general
largely determines tho character of
games that can be secured with other
institutions. So when a good game is
scheduled here, it Is incumbent upon us
to appreciate its importanco and turn
out and support It in tho proper way.
Tho value of good games must bo ap
preciated if we aro to havo them, and
the financial returns arc a safe Indica
tion of the results attained. And wo
should seo the financial results of tho
game with Wisconsin aro wholly com
mensurato with Its importance.
o
. When the Sophomores meet Monday
they should assemble with a fixed pur
pose to settle definitely tho question
raised concerning the choosing of the
editor and business manager of the
Sombrero. ' This business is ' of sur
iwssing importance, and it is the duty
of tho president and tho clabs to see
that it is attended to as speedily as
possible. Any attempt to delay mat
ters farther ought to be regarded In its
true light as a pafpablo effort to ob
struct, and cried down In its inception.
Tho majority of the class havo ex
pressed a desire that the chief places on
tho Junior Board bo made elective,
and their wishes should be respected.
Wo hope that no parties concerned
in this matter would fear to submit
their cause to the class, for a baekwar'd-
