The electrical department has pro cured a new arc lamp which does away with the acetylene projecting lantern. This lantern Is used In street railway lectures. Mr. Wells, who Is traveling engineer for the" Burlington, was a visitor Wed nesday evening at the Engineering so ciety. The society expects to be able to hear Mr. Wells In a talk In regard to locomotive boilers, a subject to which he has given a large amount of study. Thursday R. A. Swartou. who took some work In the civil engineering course in 1902 visited tic department He Is working for a bridge contractor at Tecumseh, Neb., and hence was able to give some practical points to th class In bridges.
