Arrangements are being made for
the Nebraska-Washington debute at
St. Louis.
"Debate." says the Knox Student, "is
a true Indication of depth and accur
acy of thought. The ordinary lessons
of the college curriculum do not nec
essarily bring with them the training
of free and independent thinking."
Twelve Knox students are working
on the Knox-Belolt debate.
An Artistic Display.
Nebraska headquarters at St. Louis
will be in the Nebraska building insid"
the agricultural building. There will
be an amphitheatre with a panoramic
display of the different products and
lesources of the state. Near it will be
the reception room, which will be
partly decorated with walled cases of
the Stato Historical society, showing
relics of the state. Most of these will
be shelf cases, covered with plate
glass and will show up this portion of
Nebraska in an excellent manner.

Palladian Debating Club Meets.
The Palladian Debating club had a
lively meeting last Saturday evening,
and one of the old time parliamentary
"scraps' was the order of the evening,
together witha heated debate on the
emigration question. The Interest
shown in tho workings of the society h
marked and if the Increase does not
cease the advisability of a more spa
clous hall will be the prime subject for
discussion. The orators that are be
ing developed have too much volume
for such close wallB, and in view of
that something must necessarily be
done to relieve the strain of "hot air.''
