Tho holiday vacation of the school of agriculture will last from December 24th to January 4th. Professor Votaw has been busy the last few days placing a now dynamo In the power house, which will he used for running the motor in the shop building. Piofesror Smith gave a talk to the school Tuesday on the International lhe Ftock show, explaining the victor ies of "Challenger," nnd exhibiting the eight blue ribbons. Work on the three new buildings Is progressing rapidly. The dairy barn Is nearly completed, and tfce shops and horticultural buildings. It Is hoped, will be ready for use shortly after the holidays. Dr. Gain, of the veterinary depart ment, holds a clinic every Saturday morning, and performs operations on animals that are brought In fiom tlje sunoundlng country. There are tixteen mem bers of this ciass. Joseph E. Wing, a well known writer on agricultural topics, addressed the school last Monday morning Mr. Wing did not deal with technical matters, but gae an insi iring talk on "Work," showing fiom his own experiences the value of persistence. Mr. Wing has isited the t-chool several times, and he )-v alwajs given an enthusiastic rc option. The department ol agriculture as well as that of animal husbandry, won the blue ribbon at Chicago. The first pil.e of $75 was awaided the Nebras ka exhibit of grasses and forage c rops combined with tho feed exhibit. The hitter were prepaicd by Piofett-or Smith, and the collection of glares and forage crops was nfade by Mr K G. Montgomery, of the department of agriculture, and was the lesult of erj caieful work. The enrollment in the school has i cached 102. This is more than double the registration In the long course lntt ear at this time Such a marked Increase has inspired one of the stu dents to make the following estimate: "If the attendance at the school of agriculture should keep up the latio of increase shown in the last He jcars there would be, at tne end of the next ten years, 40,000 students in the school."
