Report of Attempt to Get Game
With Princeton Improbable.
In several of the newspaper articles
have appeared stating that Coach Booth
had gone east to try and secure a
game for Nebraska with Princeton to
be played in Chicago next fall.
The outcome of such an attempt is
almost obvious. A team with the
standing that Princeton has will hard
ly journey so far to play a game when
she tan have on her own grounds
games with almost'any college or unl
ersity she chooses.
From a financial point of view the
thing is hardly plausible. Should
Princeton desire games for the pur
pose of making money she could do
a great deal better by scheduling those
game on her own grounds, and she
would have no trouble in getting
games which would yield all the In
come needed
The only prospect which seems at
all bright for securing such a game is
that Princeton should desire to test her
strength with that of boiiio prominent
western team. But were this so, bho
would probably be desirous of arrang
ing that game on her own grounds and
save her team the wear and team of a
long trip
Dr. Clapp received a letter from Col
oiado. In which that University desires
to secure a track meet with Nebraska.
No definite offers were made, but
some ory promising suggestions were
offered.
It may be that Nebraska will tak
advantage of this offer and the track
meet be arranged with Colorado for
next spring.
Thero will be a Bpeclal meeting of
the athletic board this morning at
10:30. It is not yet known whether the
ballots for captain of the football team
will be counted then or not. If they
are not, then they will be at the regu
lar meeting which is set for Monday
evening at 7:30.
Dr. Clapp desires to meet the men
who aie to take part In the gymnasium
tontest this afternoon at 4 o'clock in
the gymnasium.
Theie will be something doing In
basket ball circles next Tucda night
in the gymnasium.
The Wesleyan first team will play
our first team and the Wesleyan faculty
team will play our faculty team.
These will be the first games of the
season with the exception of the one
last Wednesday night, and will be a
good beginning for the season.
Our team Is stronger than last year
and plays a remarkably fast game for
fo early In the season They will have
good opponents, however, in the Wes
leyan team, and the game will be no
slow one.
The faculty team Is captained by Dr.
Condni and composed of men who tor
the most pait are well acquainted with
the game, and they will go Into it like
they used to when they played on their
respective teams.
