The alumnae chapter of Delta Gam
ma will give a Hallowe'en party for
the active chapter at the home of Miss
Deweese Saturday evening.
Clark Powell and Charlie Engel were
Omaha visitors at the Phi Psi house
over Sunday. They made the trip
from Omaha in an automobile.
C. P. Craft. Alpha Theta Chi. and J.
II. Broady, Beta Theta Pi, have pledged
to the legal fraternity of Phi Delta

Owing to football dates conflicting
Chairman Dildlne has again changed
the date of the Sophomore Hop to Fri
day, November 20, at Fraternity hall.
This date is final.
Delta Delta Delta gave another of
their receptions to members of the fac
ulty at tho chapter house Saturday
evening. Light refreshments were the
order of the evening.
Beta Theta Pi gave a party Satur
day night in honor of visiting Betas
from Colorado. Thirty-five couples
were present. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wil
liams chaperoned the party.
Delta Tau Delta gave a smoker at
the chapter house Saturday evening for
their Delta Tau brothers, Messrs.
Wright, manager, and Baker Mills, of
the Colorado football team.
Clark Powell, a , brother of Doano
Powell, 04, made the trip from Omaha
to Lincoln in his automobile Saturday.
He returned to his home this -morning.
While in Lincoln he was a guest of the
Phi Psi's.
After the ceremonies which were
held at tho home of Miss King, a ban
quet was held at the home of Miss
Piper. Miss Anne Richardson Hall, of
Kansas City, from the Barnard, N. Y.,
chapter assisted in the initiation.
Tho second Band Informal of the
j ear was held Saturday evening at the
Armory. The same committee had
this in charge that gave tho first In
formal. Quick's orchestra and a lloor
unusually good added to tho evening's
enjoyment. About eighty-couples were
present, among whom were several of
the Colorado men.
Miss Jennie Whitmore entertained
a number of yoang ladles informally at
liev rooms Saturday evening. Tho
guests wero all attired Tn fancy dress
costumes. Among many charming ones
wero coquettish ballet glrlB, timid look
ing young men and rather diminutive
O appearing football warrjors. From the
y shouts of laughter which frequently
' broko the stillness of the midnight
hour one may judge that they had a
very enjoyable time. Dainty refresh
ments wero served at a late hour.

TO PROMOTE EXCURSIONS.
Students Asked to Help in Get
ting Crowd for Knox and Illinois
Games.
The football management has been
active in devising means for making
the crowds at both the Knox and Illi
nois games record breaking ones. Ex
cursions will be run from all parts of
the state. Each student Is requested
to aid by endeavoring to interest the
people In his home town in the excur
sions and especially to Induce tho high
school authorities to use their beat ef
forts ln arranging a trip for their pupils
to Lincoln1 on. thfc date of at least one
of the games. Perhaps no more direct
way could be arranged than, this for
reaching tho people la all parts of the
state, provided that the students do
their share. Efforts will also bo made
to interest the state press and it Is
quite probable that the games will be
advertised extensively through this
medium. Any student who desires to
help out is requested to see Dr. Condra
personally or Manager Buckn-er. Here
Is an opportunity to show a spirit of
loyalty and students who pride them
selves on the work they have done
for the Interests of the class and the
University will have an- opportunity to
prove their worth.
Chemical Journal ClubJVIeets.
The Chemical Journal club met Sat
urday morning and spent a very In
teresting as well as instructive hour. It
would be well If others than1 those spe
cializing in chemistry or contemplat
ing teaching It would attend these
meetings, which are held every Satur
day morning at 10:30 because an 1m
menfie amount of practical informa
tion can be acquired from them which
will prove advantageous In future? life.
Last Saturday Prof. Nicholson re
ported on "AntiFeptics and their use In
the preservation of food."
Other points dealing with the nature
of rhemlcal compounds of various'
kinds were ta"ken up and discussed by
Messrs. Jacobson and Dales.
Piofessor Barbour goes to York on
the 29th to deliver a lecture on "A
Jo.irney through the Great Plains and
Yellowstone Park." The lecture will
be for the benefit of the Boy's asso
ciation of the York High School, which
is iaising a fund for the establishment
of a library.
Mr. E. E. Blackman1, state archeolo
gist, will go to Omaha the last of tho
week In search for the fields where the
flint taken from the Nehawka quarries
was chipped Into Implements.
Bruce Yates is now underground en
gineer for the Homestake Mining com
pany. He Is considered a very promis
ing young mnn in this field. He Is lo
