The Glee Club Concert.
The post-season concert given by the
Glee Club at St. Paul's Methodist
church yesterday evening was ren
dered with the same marked success
that has characterized Its work since
Its organization. Owing to the threat
ening weather, only a fair-sized audi
ence was present. The program was
divided Into three parts, Including a
highly amusing cantata, entitled "The
Grasshopper." which was rendered by
Messrs. McCullough, Brockway, Ches
slngton. and Stull, assisted by the Glee
Club The readings of Mr Rates were
especlnlly fine, and In these he dis
played superior elocutional powers
The baritone solos by Mr Starr were
well received and repeatedly encored,
as were the mandolin solos by Mrs
Starr. The selections rendered by the
Glee Club were enthusiastically re
ceived, and upon several occasions were
practically given an ovation. The cluo
has reason to congratulate Itself upon
the success- of the occasion, and to re
gret only that the bad weather pre
vented a larger attendance.
Kansas Wants Somebody.
Chancellor Strong of the Unlver8it
of Kansas, superintendent of the Lin
coln schools from '92 to '94, with Re
gent Hopkins, of the same Institution,
were at the University Saturday. The
object of their visit is not definitely
known, but the hint has been dropped,
by men who are in a position to know,
that these two representatives- of our
sister university were looking after
men to supply vacancies In the depart
ments of geology and German at th
Kansas University.
Battalion News.
The battalion will assemble Thurs
day evening at 5 o'clock for the mak
ing of final announcements concerning
the Wahoo encampment.
The annual drill and undress pa
rade of company Q will be held Wed
nesday evening, May 20th, on the north
side of the armory at 7:30 sharp. The
usual uniforms will be worn white
ducks, night shirts, and night caps.

talion has been promoted to be ( ndet
major, vice B S Hall, resigned. Cadet
First Lieutenant H. N. Hlggliih, pro
moted to be captain of company D, and
Cadet Second Lieutenant E It. Wal
ton, promoted to be first lieutenant of

executive office. Since a limited num
ber only are to be sold with meal
ticket coupons. University people
should secure them at once.
Commandant Chase put to the cadet
battalion Monday evening the follow
ing question. "Has your military
work for this semester interfered with
your regular studies In the University,
or with your laboratory work In con
nection with the same?" Two hundred
and eight replied, "No Interference
with other work in University;" six,
"No conflicts, but do not like drill;''
and twenty, "Conflicts with laboratory,
studying, or outside work."
