"thou Shalt Not Steal."
(Minnesota Dally.)
Tho Daily management again finds
It necessary to warn students who
ro making a practice of stealing their
neighbor's Dally. Last fall, after one
of had boon caught and severely repri
manded, the nuisance abated. Since
tho beginning of tho second semester
each day seems to bring more com
plaints to the office. Last week when
one of the lady subscribers enmo after
her paper, the box was empty and a
young man was near by reading her
Dally. He apologized and handed over
the property. On Wednesday last, n
student whom you would least expect
oponed three boxes before he found a
box containing a Dally. From ten to
fifteen people are compelled to call at
tho desk for their papers. This Is an
Injustice to subscribers and a nuisance
to the management. The time has
come when a halt must be called. A
watch on suspicious characters will
be started and no mercy shown to of
fenders. If you must have a Dally,
call at the office and get one. But do
not blomlsh your character by petty
thieving.

U. of M. Dally: Gambling among
the colleges, perhaps much more exag
gerated In the reading than It appears
In actual fact, has been proclaimed
from several Institutions In addition
to tho one from which professor was
dismissed several weeks ago, the mag
nitude of tho exhibit varying In each
Instance with the point of view of the
person giving the Information, says
Collier's Weekly. The disclosures fol
low with Interesting nelghboillness up
on the charges of excessive card-playing
and gambling In social circles, and
with somewhat more remote separation
the more radical declarations as to the
"danger of the drink evil" In the same
circles. Now haB come from a person
no less prominent than the governor of
Nebraska the following, apropos of the
same subject: "There are some things
in our civilization that are breeding
disaster for future generations. The
dance, the card game, and the theatre
are among these things, and tho great
est Joy of my life has been that I have
had the courage to resist such worldly
temptations."
