The Academy people are again enjoy
ing their electric bellB, which have
been on a strike for several weeks.
Miss Eleanor Barbour, who was
provented by severe lllneBS from at
tending laBt semester, has returned to
her work trig semester.
Margaret Wharton, Grace Stewart,
Elmer Johnson, Charles Stewart, Glenn
Harvey and A. B. Allen have either
but recently returned from more or less
protracted periods of Illness, or are
still confined to the house. Grip Is the
prevalent dlseaso and has sadly Inter
fered with class work during the last
month. Fortunately, however, not a
teacher has been detained from a reci
tation during the year.
The midget tpnm of the University
will play the Academy girls Saturday
afternoon. Tho Academy team regrets
the probable absence of several of its
star players on account of sickness.
The severe Btraln that Miss Edna
Baker sustained during practice some
weol8 ago may possibly further weaken
the team by her absence. However, a
sharp gamo is hoped for and will be
witnessed only by the mothers and
other friends of the girls. Not a man
will be allowed.

terest students intending to apply for
outsldo fellowships:
Columbia, Mo., Feb. 16, 1903.
Dear Sir Tho University of Missouri
will offer for tho next academic year
a number of fellowships yielding sti
pends of $200. This sum will nearly
pay a Btudent's necessary expenses in
Columbia. These fellowships will be
assigned to tho applicants who are of
highest promise in scholarship Irre
spective of the lines of work they may
desire to pursue. It Is expected that
follows will bo prepared for graduate
work and that they will devote them
selves malily to work In one depart
ment They will do no teaching, but
may bo called upon to render a limited
amount of service to the University In
other wayB. Will you kindly bring this
matter to the attention of sudh stu
dents In your institution as you con
sider qualified for these fellowships.
