The department of mechanical en
gineering has just received as an im
portation from Germany, through
Eimer and Ammend, a complete Jun
ker's calorimeter for the determina
tion of the heating value of all gaseous
and liquid fuels. This gives the de
partment a very complete equipment
for determining the heating value of
all substances. Primarily, the Jun
ker's calorimeter will be used In con
nection with teats of gas and gasoline
engines, bo that the exact heating
value of the substance delivered to the
engine can bo determined, thereby
making it possible to arrive at an
exact determination of the thermal ef
ficiency of the engine. The equipment
is handsomely finished and well en
cased. This .giveq the mechanical en
gineering department such equipment
for making the above tests aa Is
