Students Urged to Go The Shedd benefit meeting at chapel yesterday morning was not very large ly attended, but was an enthusiastic one In other particulars Chancellor Andrews, Professors Wyer and Fossler and Captain West over made short addresses, setting forth tho reasons why the student body should lend their support to this movement. The chancellor declared that the cause wns Indeed a worthy one, and suggested that every student manifest at least enough Interest to be present this evening It Is not, he said, that Mr Shedd Is an object of charity that we should give support to this move ment, but because he has so nobly and valiantly labored for the university in fighting her battles upon the foot ball field Mr Wyer regretted that tho univer sity was not doing more for Mr Shedd The fait that the Business Men's club had to take this matter in hand and push it did not speak well for the unl ersity, but that it was not too late for us to show that we have an in terest In the matter which can be manifested by our turning out to the entertainment tonight Professor Fossler gae a very spirit ed talk urging that every student should feel a personal responsibility in matters of this kind and lend his in dividual support to make success cer tain Each student should feel that his or her support is essential to the success of such an enterprise Too many of us want to shiik from these responsibilities thereby throwing our burdens on someone else Captain Westover said that it pained hjm to see the student body manifest so little interest in this matter as the attendance would seem to indicate. He said he recalled the great reception given the victorious team on their re turn from Minnesota and he only hoptd that the student body would manifest the same spirit in reward ing one of those most worthy victors There are 725 women students en rolled at Michigan.
