ton they attended the meetings of the
American association for the advance
ment of science, and Dr. Clements read
two papers before the botanical society
of America The subjects of the papers
were. "Herbaria Illustrating Plant For
mation," and "The Limits or Ecology"
The English Lawn Tennis associa
tion, endeavoring to emphasize the
international character of the game,
has adopted the American service rule,
and agreed to admit bix foreign and
colonial delegates to the annual coun
cil, to be held in .July The United
States will be Invited to send lepre
sentatives. The sophomore class at Cornell is to
be allowed to use the armory for its
cotillion, providing It lives up to cer
tain requirements laid down by the Ju
niors. Restrictions aro placed upon
the second-year men as to the amount
of money they are to spend on the
supper nnd decorations, In order that
the cotillion may not detract from the
junior prom, which is the crowning
event of the week.
