The alumni of Yale from the Hawai
ian Islands provide a scholarship fund
of $500 a year to send some student
fiom the islands through Yale.
Mr. Carricker, Professor Bruner's as
sistant in entomology, spent vacation
at Dunbar, Neb., visiting Mr. and Miss
Jones, former graduates of this uni
versity. Columbia is mourning the death of
Professor Hood, who has been at the
head of their physics department since
ISfi-l, and has done much to increase
its efficiency.
C. N. Goul, of the University of Okla
homa, a professor of geology, spent sev
eral days last week in visiting the geol
ogy department of the University of
Nebraska. '

T. U. Fox. who graduates in Febru
ary, has been chosen as principal of the
high school at Sheridan, Wyo.
Clinton Donelson, brother of Miss
Florence Donelson, '04. has registered
for the winter court In agriculture.
During the recent teachers' meeting
held In the city, it was a noticeable
fact that the teachers occupying the
most prominent positions In the Btate
were alumni of the university.
Mr. O'Gara, who received an appoint
ment from the IT. S. agricultural de
partment, is in Georgia, where he will
remain until next summer. He has
charge of a 9,000-acre peach orchard.
Quite a number of students are tak
ing advantage of the exhibition of the
Nebraska Art association, and many
more should avail themselves of the
oportunlty to see the production of
the best American artists.
Clifton J. Piatt, '99, who Is now lo
cated at Pasadena, Cal., has been visit
ing in the city and at the university
during the past week. Lincoln was hlB
former home. Mr. Piatt was a caller
at i.ic Nebraskan office. He is now car
rying on a prosperous real estate busi
ness in the thriving western city.
Prof. B. E. Moore, of the physics de
partment, and his assistants, performed
several difficult electrical experiments
before the science section of the state
teachers' association last week. The de
partment's experimental apparatus was
also open for Inspection.
