Miss Rena Chopell, '01. Is teaching

ing post-grnduate work in the univer
sity, being a candidate for master's de

Dr. Brace is recovering slowly from
a severe attack of typhoid fever. It Is
hoped he will be able to meet his

the Chancellor will soon have pub
lished. Mr. Williams. 0 fellow in the physics
department, now has his apparatus in
shape to take a long series of obser
vations on the refractive Indices of
substance.
W. B. Cartmal. who was a fellow In
the physics deoart merit for two years,
and also a professor at the state farm,
has a good position In the united States
bureau of weights and measures at
Washington.
The Dramatic club met for the first
time last night and rehearsed their new
play, which Is to be given for the Col
lege Settlement next mo'ith. Coach
Booth and Miss Howell w'll be the
leading characters.
Burton Christie, of the class of '98.
Is now practicing medicine In Omaha
and doing exceedingly well. Mr.
Christie graduate d here from the gen
eral scientific group. He then took a
three years' course In the Omaha Med
ical College, which Is now a uart of
the state university, and received a
medal of scholarship as having the
best record of his whole class for the
full course.
The package of grasses from the
Philippine islands sent by G. A. Bene
dict, came to hand last week. Profes
sor Bessey has looked It over, and finds
that there are twenty-eight different
species of grasses, proper, and eleven
sedges. Some of the species are iden
tical with those" found here, while oth
ers are very strange looking.
Edson Henry, '98, an Alpha TheUi
Chi, has been called to the city from
Harvard on account of the Illness of
his father.
Miss Ionise Phrlps, '02, who haa
been taking post-graduate work, left
for Ord yesterday, where she has ac
cepted a position ait a teacher In tho
high school.
The Universities of Pennsylvania and
Virginia have entered Into a two-year
debating agreement.
