A teacher'B class in geology 15 has
been organized. For the first semester
the class will take up the study of min
erals and rocks, and then take up gen
eral geology "with field work for the
rest of the year. There were twenty
teachers present from the Lincoln
schools Saturday morning.

Class politics have almost reached
a fever heat.
Sixteen girls have enrolled in the
special physical education course for
teachers.
The girls' basket ball teams will
practice between 1:30 and 2 p. m.
throughout the semester.
Two men have been employed to as
sist Jack Best in caring for some mus
cles, bruises and sprains of the foot
ball men.
Professor Luckey has received a re
quest to name some one to fill a $1,500
position as professor of education In a
sister university.
The attendance at the men's gym
nasium classes continues to Increase.
The number of lockers is Insufficient
to accommodate the classes and several
of the old lockers are out of repair.
Fred Cross, who formerly had charge
of the green house, is now gardener at
the Insane asylum. Peter Nelson, who
received hlB professional training in
Sweden, takes his place here.
A night school, in which instruction
will be given in shorthand and type
writing, will be conducted during the
coming year by the city Y. M. C. A.
The school opens the fore part of
October.
A. W. Gaines, student assistant in
the weather bureau, has resigned and
will soon leave the university. His
place will be taken by Charles S. Grln
dle of Washington, D. C, who will de
vote his entire time to the work.

John L. Kind left last week for Co
lumbia. During the summer he was
given the Carl Schurz fellowship in
that university and will take up IiIb
work this Bemester. He was formerly
Instructor at the university in Ger
man. F. G. Bruner, '03, has been made a
scholar In the department of education.
He succeeds W. R. Jackson, who has
been made professor of education at
Wesleyan.
The physical education department
has purchased some new apparatus con
sisting of two Swedish Plinths to be
used In the medical gymnastics and
corrective course.
The enrollment In the girls' gymna
sium classes Is larger this year than
during previous years. There are 225
in the first year classes. Several new
divisions have been formed and the
new chapel Is used to accommodate
them.
The registration In the German con
versational class, course VII, has In
creased considerably. The number of
pupils Is now 101. This shows an evi
dent appreciation of Professor Fosler's
good work In his classes and his con
scientious efforts In their behalf.
