coming party to both old and new stu
dents in their hall on Friday evening.
A pleasant number were in attendance
and the time was spent in the usual de
lightful way with games, music and

Professor Fogg has moved from his
former location, room N. -50l, to a
more suitable room, N. .101). It Is
equipped with new office furnishings.
Two additional arc lamps are soon
to be placed in the nrmory, and two
upon the campus. One will be placed
near the. library and another near Ne
braska hall.
A J. Gibbons, formerly of '02. now
of Ann Arbor, is spending a few days
at the Delta ITpsilon house, before en
tering upon his senior year in the
Ann Arbor school of law.
Hal V. Minor. '!), was a visitor upon
the campus yesterday. Mr. Minor is
located at Nelson, Neb., where he is en
gaged In the lumber business. He vis
ited with his brother Ralph, at the
Sigma Alpha Epsilon house.
Flectrican Crane has just completed
the reviewing of the class bell system
in the basement of University hall and
the bells rang for the first time Thurs
day. A new gong was added to the
system and has been placed in the
Sigma Alpha Epsilon house.

Miss Addle E. Harris, for some time
teacher in the Ilennet schools, has re
turned to the university to take, gradu
ate work.
Hepholdt .1. Kllogchas been visiting
friends about the university for a few
days. He Is on his way to Canada,
where he will be employed as chemist
in a beet sugar factory.
Miss Sophia I). Kiesselbach, who lias
been abroad a year, visiting points of
interest in Germany and Switzerland,
has returned to the university to take
up college work again.
A cadet suit is quite dressy. The
Paine, clothing store has been making
good ones for many years. Uni boys
have used a good many of them in
past, years.
The geology department has secured
new lanterns for demonstration and lec
tures. These will be put immediately
to use In course I. They are a con
siderable Improvement over the old
ones.
G. F. Miles. '03, has been appointed
assistant in the department of botany.
For the past two or three years Mr.
Miles has devoted the greater part of
his attention to the study of botany,
in which he is hp-ciali.lng.
G V. Dudley, '02, who has been
in the employ of the Northwestern
Railway company during the summer,
was in the city Saturday, to see the
football game. Mr. Dudley Is now
principal of the Dewitt schools.
The new course in general geology,
designed especially for teachers In the
secondary schools. Is very popular.
About twenty teachers attended the
lecture Saturday, and quite a number
o( others have, signified their intention
of taking the course.
V H Heaton, a former mechanical
student of the university, is at present
employed In a foundry at Des Moines,
la., as superintendent of the c doting
department. He was formerly em
ployed by the Vierling and Paxton com
pany of Quia ha.
Mr. Robert S. Hlltner of the chem
istry department has returned from
California, where he has been engaged
during the past summer In Btudying
the practical side of sugar making.
The classeB In sugar chemistry will
profit considerably by his experience.
While In the west Mr. Hlltner was of
fered a very tempting.' position as
chemist in a large sugar factory. How
ever, he preferred to remain in Nebraska.
